Born and raised in Lancashire, in the north of England, Charlotte’s creative ambitions began at Central Saint Martin’s college in London. Upon graduation Charlotte went on to the creative marketing department of Luella Bartley, where she furthered her business acumen and understanding of the inner workings of a fashion label.
June 2009 saw the creation of the eponymous womenswear label, which was successfully launched at London Fashion Week in February 2010.In May 2011 Charlotte was joined by her elder brother Ben, who hailed from a creative marketing background and was to become the MD of the label, driving forward the company and its development into further markets.
Strong tailoring, bold silhouettes and sculptured shapes provide the canvas for the labels iconic, random and quirky prints. From 2011, the increasing popular prints became the focus of the label and have grown into the recognizable CT style of today.
Charlotte’s vision continually drives a fun, British, yet feminine streak through her collections, stemming from her unusual inspirations and stimuli. From Penguins. Grannies and eccentrics to Vintage Robots, Sail-making and decayed metal; Charlotte delves into her collections and creates worlds and stories to complement and drive them.
To accompany Charlotte’s venture in 2010, she set up a documentary style blog. An original and honest behind the scenes documentary as she endeavoured to launch and develop the label, is still on going.
At present the Charlotte Taylor label is wholesaled in over 10 different countries worldwide in an array of innovative department stores and spirited boutiques.
A diffusion line, Charlotte by Charlotte Taylor was also launched in September 2011 in conjunction with Anthropologie, which can be found across the USA and the UK.
